Several Colington firefighters were recognized for various achievements in 2016 during the department’s annual awards banquet held in March 2017.
Members receiving recognition during the banquet were: Most Volunteer Training, Cameron Perry; Most Career Training, Trever Tilley; Most Volunteer Calls, Shane Moore; Most Career Calls, Trever Tilley; Most Improved, Duane Murphy; Chief’s Award, Clarence Winslow; Volunteer of the year, Jim Norrell; and William K. Piddington Firefighter of the Year, Trever Tilley.
The Volunteer of the Year award is selected by the career staff to honor a volunteer that goes the extra mile. The William K. Piddington Firefighter of the Year is voted upon by the entire department and is the highest honor given to any member. Both Jim and Trever received a plaque, leather fire helmet and custom shield for their award.
